The Edmonton Oilers are now looking ahead to a massive second round matchup against a scary Vegas Golden Knights team, but they're going through some problems of their own right now.
The Oilers have had goaltending problems of their own that's cause Stuart Skinner to be pulled from the starter's role, but their Golden Knights have goalie problems too.
Vegas Golden Knights goalie Adin Hill ranking as one of worst playoff goalies
Through the small sample size of the first round, Adin Hill has ranked as the 4th worst goalie by MoneyPucks' Goals Saved Above Expected. Hill only ranks behind Connor Hellebuyck, Stuart Skinner, and Linus Ullmark.
The 28 year old Hill spent his first full season as a starting goalie with the Knights this year, and put up decent results - but a drop off from their cup year. Hill had a .906 save percentage on the season, but that's dropped to .880 in the playoffs.
Vegas may be showing some signs of slowing down, especially beginning in net. Darcy Kuemper was a Vezina finalist and put up some incredible efforts to keep the Oilers at bay in round one. If the Oilers get to feast on a goalie who's struggling, their offence could make this a very quick series.
On the other hand, the Oilers goaltending will also need to hold up. Whether they're starting Stuart Skinned or Calvin Pickard, the Oilers just need averaging goaltending to give them a chance to win.
