The Edmonton Oilers may be in a perfect situation for a direct 1 for 1 trade with the Chicago Blackhawks for Lukas Reichel.
At the same time, the Oilers are finding they've got a logjam of bottom-pair defenceman that could be used as a trade chip.
Alec Regula appears to have earned a spot on the Oilers roster, but
Ty Emberson and
Troy Stecher are still around.

Oilers fans are noticing the situation as a whole, and are speculating a trade for Reichel could send a defenceman to the Blackhawks.
Lukas Reichel is a 23 year old German forward and former first round draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks under GM Stan Bowman. He hasn't caught on at the NHL level in 169 career games, but there is still some belief in his offensive abilities - and Edmonton has shown to be aggressive in acquiring young players lately. Reichel makes only $1.2M in salary.
Specifically, the Oilers giving up Ty Emberson may be the clear fit in a deal.
At 25 years old, Emberson has played 106 games and fared decently as a bottom-pair defenceman, but faded late in the season. The Oilers began using the veteran Stecher over him in the playoffs, who's under contract this season at a lower number than Emberson too.
With the emergence of Regula, Emberson may just not have a fit on the roster anymore. The Oilers can move him now, and get another young promising forward in return - it may be the best asset management for Edmonton.
