Kings goalie Darcy Kuemper sends an unusually positive message in handshake line to Connor McDavid
One of the greatest traditions in sport, after NHL teams battle it out in a tough playoff series, they shake each other's hand. It appeared Kuemper told McDavid to go win the Stanley Cup.
McDavid seemed to genuinely appreciate the moment, and Kuemper was entirely sincere. It's a clear sign of the major respect for Connor McDavid's talent and drive among his peers and his rivals.
It's rare to see an opponent so earnestly respect his opponent in the moment of elimination, making Kuemper's genuine comments in the handshake line a true highlight.
One other Kings player had nearly an opposite reaction.
Warren Foegele looked noticeably down during the handshake line, as it just be difficult to be on the other side of the result while his friends go on to advance in the playoffs.
It was another incredible playoff battle between the two teams, and even better that the Oilers came out on top after being considered underdogs heading into the series. The Oilers have been incredibly resilient through injuries and to fit their game at just the right time.
Now, they'll look to get another playoff rival back facing the Las Vegas Golden Knights in the second round.
