Connor McDavid has finally signed his contract extension to remain a member of the Edmonton Oilers.
The top Oilers insiders had always guaranteed McDavid will be re-signing in Edmonton, but it's still great news to finally have pen to paper.
Connor McDavid officially signs new contract extension with Edmonton Oilers
According to Elliotte Friedman, McDavid has officially agreed to the new deal with the Oilers.
Insiders are reporting the contract is for 2 years, with a salary of only $12.5M.
McDavid confirmed it himself on social media with a direct message that he's here to stay.
At 28 years old McDavid has already cemented himself as the talent of his generation, and one of the best to ever play the sport of hockey.
In 712 career regular season games, McDavid has 361 goals and 721 assists. He's dominated the league at a rate rarely seen, and at the end of his career McDavid could be pushing for the records just behind Gretzky.
Connor McDavid shows ultimate commitment to Edmonton Oilers
Signing McDavid to a contract extension means the Oilers will continue to be contending for the Stanley Cup, but also that they've retained a generational talent for more of his prime seasons.
The fact that he's re-signed and committed to the Oilers even after the sting of two Cup Final losses shows his level of commitment and belief in this team. Management will do their best to aggressively compete for the Stanley Cup with him here. It's a monumental moment for Edmonton.
For the rest of the NHL, they'll have to accept that McDavid's not going anywhere.
Hopefully, he continues to do it all in an Edmonton Oilers jersey.
