The Dallas Stars received support from former Oilers legend Wayne Gretzky as he visited their dressing room after defeating the Winnipeg Jets.
During his visit, he congratulated the team and wish them well as they now head to the Western Conference finals against his former team the Edmonton Oilers.
Oilers fans did not take the news well of Gretzky's support
Several fans who heard about the news took to the X platform and did not respond well to The Great One's support for the Stars.
Over the past couple of years, Gretzky has been far more visible with the NHL as he became an analyst with NHL on TNT and has been present to many important events including the Four Nations,
Alexander Ovechkin's all time scoring record and his presence in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Oilers preparing for their rematch with the Stars
Meanwhile, the Oilers are preparing for their rematch against the Stars as both teams had made upgrades to their rosters and have looked different this year compared to last.
The Oilers will open on the road where they hope to surprise the Stars with their physicality, toughness and offense.
It's likely the Oilers will start
Stuart Skinner in goal after he produced back-to-back shutouts against the Golden Knights which propelled the Oilers forward.
Game one of the Western Conference finals will take place on Wednesday May 21st and game time will be 8:00 PM eastern.
