The Edmonton Oilers have followed an unusual tactic throughout these playoffs when it comes to their practice schedule as the team does not have any practices in between games.

It seems the Oilers have learned what works best for them considering that they went to the Stanley Cup finals last year.

Oilers look to find rest where they can with travel schedule

The simple explanation is likely since the Edmonton Oilers are one of the furthest teams from every other NHL organization and will likely face long flights which will cause fatigue.
This was the case during the Stanley Cup finals last year as the team had to fly all the way to sunrise FL and back several times throughout the seven games which causes mental and physical wear on the players.
Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch is looking for any advantage he can to keep his players rested and focused as the travel will become more difficult as the team goes through the Western Conference finals.
It will depend on who they will meet as the Dallas Stars still lead their series against the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 and have a chance to closeout the series this evening which means the Oilers would start their finals in Dallas TX.

Oilers getting much needed rest as the await their opponent

Over the next several days, the Oilers will have a chance to heal their wounds and get much needed rest as the team continues to enjoy the momentum carried over from the first round against the Los Angeles Kings.
The Oilers simply shut down the Vegas Golden Knights offence especially when it came to Golden Knights Jack Eichel and added much needed toughness and physicality to their game as Trent Frederic and Evander Kane began to implement their will on the golden Knights.
If the Stars can prevail, it will be a rematch from last year's Western Conference finals with the Stars adding more talent in Mikko Rantanen.
It remains to be seen on how it will all play out but Oilers fans along with the Oilers organization are sitting and waiting while watching the television for the outcome.
