It appears that the Edmonton Oilers are scratching Viktor Arvidsson for tomorrow night's game which may be a sign of an impending trade during the offseason.
According to dailyfaceoff.com, the Oilers ran their non formal line rushes and show that they intend to replace Arvidsson along with defenseman
Ty Emberson with
Kasperi Kapanen and
Troy Stecher.
Arvidsson tenure has not gone to plan with the Oilers
Last summer, former Oilers general manager now President Jeff Jackson made several acquisitions during free agency which included Arvidsson who was playing for the Los Angeles Kings.
Many fans and pundits across the league spoke highly of this move as they felt he was ready to make a difference with the Oilers and be an impactful forward who would give them more scoring.
This season has been a complete disappointment due to several factors including injuries and poor performances which has led head coach Kris Knoblauch to make decisions with his lineup without Arvidsson included.
Through nine playoff games, the 32-year-old winger has only scored one goal and three assist for four point and is a + 2. His season was also disappointing and as he was only able to play 67 games, scoring 15 goals with 12 assists for 27 points and was a -3.
Waiving no trade clause may be in the cards for Arvidsson
Somebody messaged me over the weekend saying, keep an eye out on Arvidsson. I had no idea he had a no-trade clause, first of all.
What I was told is, Arvidsson might be willing to be traded. When I asked around to people within the organization, that was news to them. So I'm getting mixed signals there.

Arvidsson currently holds one year remaining on his deal worth $4 million and would need to give the Oilers permission to attempt to make a deal as his no movement clause is in full effect.
It remains to be seen on who would want to take him on but with the salary cap rising quickly, there's a strong possibility that teams would look at him to get to the salary cap floor with the Oilers benefiting from clearing cap space and potentially acquiring an asset in return.
All eyes will be on the Oilers this offseason for several reasons but for now the team is during the playoffs and team business will be left till after their season is over.
