According to new reports from Oilers reporter Tom Gazzola, there is a possibility that Viktor Arvidsson would waive his no-move clause to pursue a better fit elsewhere.

Arvidsson was previously in trade rumours this week as a potential salary cap dump, until reports surfaced today that he has a full no-move clause.

Insider suggests mixed signals on Viktor Arvidsson waiving no-move clause

On today's edition of the Oil Stream show on Edmonton Sports Talk network, insider Tom Gazzola shared a suggestion that Arvidsson may be willing to waive his trade protection for a better fit elsewhere - but there was pushback from the organization on that claim.
Somebody messaged me over the weekend saying, keep an eye out on Arvidsson. I had no idea he had a no-trade clause, first of all.

What I was told is, Arvidsson might be willing to be traded. When I asked around to people within the organization, that was news to them. So I'm getting mixed signals there.

The Oilers organization denying knowledge of the claim would make sense, as the organization tries to keep their cards close on trade deadline week.
Arvidsson accepting a fresh start elsewhere would make sense if the Oilers communicate to him that they don't see a place in the lineup for him in the playoffs. It wouldn't be a good look for him to be sitting in the press box in the postseason.

Oilers should trade Viktor Arvidsson if possible to clear cap space

The 31 year old Swedish forward has battled through injuries this season, and has shown flashes of good play, but is on pace for one of the worst years of his career. It's possible the Oilers healthy scratch him in the playoffs if Evander Kane returns or another player is added in trade.
In 45 games this season, Arvidsson only has 7 goals and 19 points - and that's playing mostly next to Draisaitl in an MVP year. Moving the struggling veteran forward and clearing his $4M in cap to address defence or goaltending makes sense for the Oilers.
Although Arvidsson does possess a no-move clause, Gazzola's report suggests there is still a possibility he could waive his protection for a fresh start elsewhere. Hopefully, the Oilers can find a way to sell him on another team.
