Oilers' Kasperi Kapanen shares life changing personal news

Kapanen isn't the only Edmonton Oiler getting married this weekend, either. Leon Draisaitl is also getting married to Celeste Desjardins today in France.

Kasperi and Matleena Kapanen officially tied the knot yesterday night at home in Helsinki, Finland. It was relatively a low-profile ceremony as many Oilers are set to attend Draisaitl's wedding today.

With the couple only getting engaged last Christmas Eve, it didn't take long for the Kapanens to plan their ceremony. It looked like an incredible time for the couple and their families.

Now 29 years old, Kapanen has found a role with the Edmonton Oilers on his last legs in the NHL. He's re-signed on a one year, $1.3M contract to return next season, hopefully able to keep using his speed to be an energy player in the bottom six. On a one year deal, he should be motivated for another good year to prove he belongs in the NHL again.

After being a healthy scratch early on, Kapanen did make an impact when introduced to the playoff lineup. Coming to the team as a waiver claim, he's absolutely exceeded expectations and proved himself as an asset to the roster.
