Heading into the second round against the Vegas Golden Knights, the Oilers are expected to keep rolling with Calvin Pickard as their starter - but the door isn't closed to Skinner according to Allan Mitchell of the Athletic.
The transition from Stuart Skinner to Pickard wasn't shocking to anyone. What has been a surprise is the quality of Pickard's performances. He currently owns the net, and Skinner's return date is unknown (although likely if the team continues deep into the playoffs).

Stuart Skinner currently ranks as the 2nd worst goalie in the NHL playoffs with -4.7 GSAx, only behind Connor Hellebuyck's annual implosion. Calvin Pickard sits in the middle of the pack, with a -0.9GSAx.
Simply put, the Oilers will continue to have a short least with both goaltenders. If Calvin Pickard falters early in the series, a switch back to Stuart Skinner is still possible.
Given his reaction in his last game, starting Skinner at home would be more preferable - so at least Game 3. For series opener on the road in Vegas, Pickard will likely get both starts.
For now, the Oilers are rallying around the journeyman backup stepping up to give the team a chance to win in the playoffs.
Everyone from the depth players to superstars seem to love playing for Pickard, and if that's giving them a boost, they should keep it up. While the door isn't closed to Skinner, Pickard seems to have a grip on the starter's role.
