During the latest episode of OilersNation Everyday, former Oilers goaltender Devan Dubnyk revealed a major weakness with LA Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper which would throw off his game.
Dubnyk explained how Kuemper is an emotional player and that the Oilers just need to be in his kitchen and poke and bother him a little which will cause him to lose composure and his focus.
Oilers have players who would cause issues for Kuemper
Knowing this weakness, the Oilers have several players including forwards
Corey Perry,
Evander Kane who could stand in front of Kuemper and drive him crazy which would give the Oilers the advantage and hopefully translate into a goal.
The Oilers are hoping to have a better start in Game 2 as the team went down 4-0 early on in game one which forced the Oilers to play catch up for the remainder of the game where they ended up losing 6-5 in the last minute of Game 1.
Dubnyk was a member of the Oilers for five seasons after he was drafted by the team in the 2004 entry draft, 14th overall. His career spanned from 2009 to 2021 when he played for the Oilers, Predators, Wild, Sharks, and Kuemper's former team the Avalanche.
Oilers made two lineup changes for Game 2 with Kane and Klingberg
Many feel that the Oilers will bounce back in Game 2 as the team hopes for a split in the series before heading back to Rogers Place.
The Oilers will need more contributions from many players not named
Connor McDavid and
Leon Draisaitl as the games will get tougher and the ice will get smaller with less room to create offense.
Games 3 and 4 will take place on Friday April 25th and Sunday April 27th.
