The Edmonton Oilers took to the ice for practice before a critical Game 5 against Vegas, and have confirmed the same lineup and starting goalie as last game.
Edmonton Oilers confirm lineup for Game 5 vs Vegas
According to several Oilers reporters at practice, the lineup is expected to remain the same, with
Stuart Skinner still starting in net.
The Oilers have turned back to separating McDavid and Draisaitl, and they're still able to create 4 balanced lines in this formation.
The bottom six has stepped up to bring a new level of play lately, with each line forming an identity of toughness and able to contribute scoring. Their depth has become one of the biggest stories of their success this playoffs.
No changes coming for Oilers defence and goaltending in Game 5
Darnell Nurse may be appearing to be on a de-facto third pair with Troy Stecher, but Nurse actually played the second most ice time behind
Evan Bouchard. Klingberg played the least with 12:00, so the Oilers have found a balanced approach by adding Stecher in defence as well.
Stuart Skinner will get the start in net again with Pickard still out with injury, looking to build off his shutout start last game. If Skinner can just pull his game up to average, it will be well enough for the Oilers roster to take over games.
The Oilers have an opportunity tonight to eliminate the Vegas Golden Knights and advance to the third round of the playoffs. They're inching closer to their ultimate goal, and can take another huge step tonight.
