Zach Hyman has been ruled out for the rest of the Oilers playoffs, and today addressed the heartbreaking news to the media while wearing a wrist brace.

Hyman also had an emotional interview this week where he described the moment he knew his season was over, but is also immediately jumping into a support role.

Zach Hyman reveals details on wrist injury, doubtful to join training camp next year

Speaking to the media today, Zach Hyman revealed that he discloacated his wrist and tore multiple ligaments. His surgery and recovery timeline makes him doubtful to appear even in training camp next season.
Had he just broken a bone or dislocated his wrist, a recovery of 2 months would've been possible. The complication of torn ligaments and surgery, push the return timeline even further back.
If Hyman misses training camp, it's likely he could miss some time to begin the regular season next year. It's a significant loss for the Oilers in the playoff already, and missing him next season will sting even more.

Hyman explains emotional moment with Connor McDavid in locker room after injury

Hyman also addressed the most emotional moment when he knew his season was over. Sitting in the locker room in the intermission, Hyman broke down when Connor McDavid came to speak to him.
[McDavid] was the first one to come over in between periods. Called me over, gave me a hug. That's when I broke down.

Against a tough physical team like the Florida Panthers, the Oilers will be sorely missing the relentless work ethic of Zach Hyman. He's an irreplaceable player for the Oilers, but still, their depth and other surrounding talent should be able to win the cup without him.
It's gutting that Hyman isn't able to play in these games, but he's every bit as deserving to lift the Stanley Cup if the Oilers win. For now, he'll keep on being a perfect teammate in the locker room.
