The Edmonton Oilers might be missing Evander Kane for the physicality he brought, but they wouldn't miss him if they were using him like the Canucks.

Oilers coach Knoblauch has been criticized for playing Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl too much this season, as the two are leading the NHL in ice time for forwards. Right behind them though, shockingly, is Evander Kane.

Evander Kane ranks 3rd in NHL ice time at even strength just behind Oilers stars

Canucks analysts have pointed out the shocking fact that Evander Kane is the most used forward in the NHL at 5v5 behind McDavid and Draisaitl.
Needless to say, there's a few reasons why it's insane to see the Canucks playing Evander Kane so much.
He's now 34 years old, missed all of last season with injury, and hasn't been a fast player for quite some time. On top of all that, Kane's not really having a great season with 9 points and a -4 rating.
Canucks fans are bewildered to see Kane being used this much, but aren't even blaming the coach entirely. Plenty of fans notice Kane being trapped in his own zone, and extending shifts himself.
That said, coach Adam Foote is still rolling him out too much, and it's definitely not helping the Canucks.
Kane has just one year left on his contract with his hometown Canucks, who could trade him if they're trending to miss the playoffs. He has a relatively affordable cap hit of $5.125M, but the Oilers still needed to cut his salary.
We'll see how the rest of this year shakes out, but clearly some teams still believe Kane can be a core player.
