The Edmonton Oilers have another chance to end Canada's 32 year Stanley Cup drought, and the City of Toronto is showing their support for the Oilers - to the chagrin of Leafs fans.
CN Tower gets lit up with Oilers colours, and Leafs fans are livid
The CN Tower's official social media announced the news this morning that the landmark and City would be showing support to Edmonton, like they have in the past.
It's obviously just a show of support among Canadian cities, and really nothing else deep. The CN Tower obviously isn't even associated with the Leafs, but that hasn't stopped Torontonians from being ticked off by the announcement.
Plenty of Leafs fans dislike their city showing support for any other hockey team, as a simple matter of loyalty. Leafs fans called a joke, traitorous, loser energy, and every other name in the book.
Leafs fans are rabid and prideful about their team, which is entirely understandable. If Edmonton lit up blue and green to support
the Canucks, Oilers fans would be sick.
However, there are some fans that are just rooting for any Canadian team to finally win it all this year.
Leon Draisaitl was asked about playing for Canada, and he's happy to take on the title of Canada's team.
The Stanley Cup Final finally begins tonight on home ice in Edmonton, where hopefully, the cup will stay for the next year.
