The Edmonton Oilers are headed back the Stanley Cup Final and will be remarkably healthy, but some concern has been raised about a potential illness going through the locker room.
Connor Brown has been ruled a game time decision for Game 1 after missing practice with an illness today, and much more importantly,
Connor McDavid also missed practice this week.
Oilers fans raise concern about potential McDavid illness before Game 1 of Stanley Cup Final
Connor McDavid did partake in a full practice today, and Oilers coach Knoblauch clarified there's no issues at all with him. The Oilers captain then spoke to media today and reiterated that he will be fine for Game 1.
However, some fans noticed that his voice sounded unusually hoarse, and connected with his practice absence and Brown's illness - it is possible that a sickness could be affecting McDavid.
Even if the Oilers and McDavid were to come down with a flu right now, there's no doubt players would push through the discomfort to play. However, the concern really is that one illness could turn into more, and the Oilers won't be at 100% for the Cup Final.
After two short series, the Oilers appear to be remarkably healthy. They've lost
Zach Hyman with a heartbreaking injury, but have got Ekholm back - and no core players seem to be playing through any injuries. Last year, both McDavid and Draisaitl practically limped into the finals.
As long as they can avoid this illness, the Edmonton Oilers are in prime position to finally win their first Cup in the McDavid era.
