Obviously getting to the end of his career, there's been some speculation that Perry could retire if the Oilers were to win the Cup this season. However, Perry says it won't affect his decision.
Oilers forward Corey Perry commits to returning for another season
The Oilers held their Stanley Cup Final media day today, and Perry took the podium with his young son, Griffin. Corey Perry declared he won't be retiring at the end of this season.
The Oilers veteran has had his son around the team quite often this season, and it's clearly been an incredible experience for both the Father and Son.
Corey's said multiple times through this year's playoffs, the reason he's still playing is to share it all with his son - especially winning a Stanley Cup.
Even as Perry has gotten older and slower, he's found ways to be an incredibly effective player with the Oilers. The veteran took no days off and played 81 games this season, scoring an incredible 19 goals and 30 points in mostly 4th line minutes. He's still got the soft hands, incredible hockey IQ, and the pest attitude.
The Oilers will be lucky to have the player and person Corey Perry back next season. Hopefully he signs another one year contract with the Oilers this offseason.
