The Edmonton Oilers were hoping to get forward Connor Brown back from injury in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, but now he's been listed as a game-time decision.
Connor Brown listed as questionable to play with illness for Game 1 of Stanley Cup Final
According to reporters speaking to Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch, Connor Brown has been ruled a game time decision to play tomorrow.
Reporters previously revealed that Brown had missed today's practice dealing with illness. Looking back, that could potentially be the reason why
Connor McDavid also left practice earlier this week.
If Brown is dealing with an illness right now, the Oilers actually should remove him from the team. It'd be brutal luck for a serious flu to go through the team during the biggest games of their lives. If Brown has to stay away for a few days to keep everyone else healthy, so be it.
Oilers appear to be near full health aside from Zach Hyman
Brown is the perfect player for these tight checking games against the Florida Panthers, and it would sting to see him miss time. His speed, tenacious forecheck, defensive play, and penalty killing are essential to the Oilers.
Other than the illness to Connor Brown and the season-ending injury to Zach Hyman, the Oilers appear to be remarkably healthy entering the final round of the playoffs. McDavid and Draisaitl, as well as almost every other player, doesn't seem to be playing through any injury at all.
Hopefully Brown is able to heal up quick, and the rest of the Oilers can dodge the illness that he's picked up.
