Edmonton Oilers confirm injury to forward Connor Brown after monstrous hit
Edmonton Oilers confirm injury to Connor Brown
According to multiple Oilers reporters, Connor Brown has been ruled out of the rest of Game 3. Given his previous injury as well, it's hard to imagine he'll play in Game 4.
Stars defender Alex Petrovic stepped up and laid a heavy hit on Connor Brown while retrieving a puck along the boards. Brown's head appeared to snap back with the hit, but the principal point of contact is unclear.
Petrovic could possible see supplemental discipline for this hit if it did connect with Brown's head.
Although Connor Brown is a third liner, losing him would be a serious blow to the Edmonton Oilers. He plays a key role on the team's struggling penalty kill, and always brings a dogged work ethic in the bottom six.
Unfortunately, the Oilers suffered a few more injury scares in Game 3 as well. Nugent-Hopkins also left the game momentarily, and
Trent Frederic was cross checked hard into the net causing some discomfort.
Losing Brown will be tough, but the Oilers have options waiting in the wings.
Viktor Arvidsson and
Jeff Skinner are two veterans itching to play in the press box.
The Oilers finished off the game with a blowout win, taking a 2-1 series lead with another game at home. Even losing a player, the Oilers are perfectly poised to punch their ticket back to the Cup Final.
