The NHL Department of Player Safety has fined Tyler Myers for slashing Connor McDavid in last night's Oilers and Canucks game.
It was the first meeting between the two rival teams this season, and Canucks players made it clear they see Edmonton as their biggest rival. The Oilers skated circles around Vancouver, but the Canucks started getting dirty.
Tyler Myers fined by NHL Player Safety for actions against Connor McDavid
The NHL announced the fine for Myers today on social media, the only disciplinary action expected from last night's game.
Tyler Myers has a long history with player safety for questionable hits, cross checks, and dirty plays - and this one was a classic.
As McDavid approached the slot, Tyler Myers intercepted him with a brutal slash right between the legs. That's not an area any guy wants to be hit, and McDavid's face showed it.
Even on his way to the penalty box, Myers clipped the referee with an accidental high stick.
Oilers and Canucks continue animosity from last season
Games between these two teams have been animated in previous years, and with more ridiculous dirty plays like this, it's only going to continue.
Next time these two teams match up, it will once again be a must-watch game for all hockey fans. Hopefully once again, the Oilers totally dominate them again throughout the season.
