Legendary NHL coach Don Cherry predicts who will win the Stanley Cup
Legendary NHL coach an analyst Don Cherry gave his prediction on who will win the Stanley Cup this year on his podcast yesterday.
Cherry gives breakdown of why the Oilers will win this year
"I'm still sticking with Edmonton," said Cherry full of confidence.
Cherry has some detractors as his Co hosts have chosen the Florida Panthers to win the cup again and pointed out that the goaltending will tilt in the Panthers favor as
Sergei Bobrovsky has had a better playoff then
Stuart Skinner.
"Skinner is playing just as good," said Cherry. "Whether he'll do it in the Finals, we'll see." - Don Cherry
He also feels that the Oilers are well built this year to take on the Panthers again after last year's disappointing loss in seven games.
Cherry feels that the Oilers have 4 lines that can counter the Panthers better and will give them a stronger chance of winning the cup and a better start to the Cup finals.
"No, the third and fourth line they'll make sure of that," said Cherry.
Oilers looking for a better start compared to last year's Finals
With Cherry's endorsement, the Oilers are in their final preparations for opening the Stanley Cup Finals at home as this is the first time in these playoffs.
With the additions of
Evander Kane back in the lineup and
Trent Frederic who was traded from the Boston Bruins earlier this year, along with the contributions they're getting across the lineup especially offensively and defensively the team has a better chance of defeating the Panthers.
It will be an entertaining series and likely go the distance as both teams will push hard to gain the upper hand on the matchup.
Game 1 is set to open tomorrow on June 4th and game time will begin at 8:00 PM eastern.
