Oilers celebrate Draisaitl with hilarious custom shirts, speak on 1000 point milestone

Since being drafted 3rd overall by the Oilers in 2014, Draisaitl has developed into a calibre of player that not many expected. Now 30 years old, he's become one of the NHL's premier snipers and all-around best players. Getting to 1000 points solidifies him as one of the NHL's best.

Oilers trainer Brad Harrison designed t-shirts for the entire team to wear after the game, showing a picture of Draisaitl at his wedding smoking a cigarette in front of a German flag. «Smoking his way to 1000 NHL points» was written on the shirt.

Every Oilers player was wearing one in the locker room, and some even brought out some beers and darts to celebrate in style.

Draisaitl himself was very calm after the game, and really reflected on the personal path to this milestone. He acknowledged all the support he has in his life that allows him to succeed on the ice, and also his own skill.

It's an amazing milestone for a player that's on his way to the Hall of Fame, and an exceptional leader for the Edmonton Oilers. We're lucky to have him locked up for the next 8 seasons to play his entire career as an Oiler.

Next up on the milestone watch for Draisaitl will be 1500 career points - which could very possibly be within reach at his scoring rate.
