NHL announces their decision on supplemental discipline for Oilers and Vegas
Player Safety officially announced Roy will have a phone-hearing today for his cross check on Frederic.
The NHL has cracked down on these high cross checks, and in the regular season has suspended players for 2 to 3 games. Given playoff games are considered more, Roy should expect a 1 game suspension.
On the other side, Viktor Arvidsson will reportedly not face any supplemental discipline for his dangerous trip on
Brayden McNabb.
Arvidsson's stick got into the skates of McNabb just in front of the boards, sending the Vegas defender hard into the wall and forcing him to leave with injury.
Vegas Coach Bruce Cassidy was livid about the call, and likely will be fined for his comments directly calling out the referee.
The NHL seemed to get both of their decisions right here. The precedent has been set for these high cross checks, and it deserves a suspension. Arvidsson's trip was unfortunate, and maybe deserved a fine as well as a penalty, but it's not suspend-able.
NHL to suspend Nicolas Roy, spare Viktor Arvidsson
Now missing both McNabb and Roy for Game 3 presumably,
the Vegas Golden Knights will be heavily shorthanded.
The Oilers need to take advantage of the opportunity, and take a commanding series lead back in Alberta.
