Canucks admit to major team problem that Edmonton Oilers have solved
The Vancouver Canucks have imploded as an organization this season, and are now admitting that they're having trouble attracting players to join the team.
Whether it's a result of them missing the playoffs, their locker room drama, or the eventful press conferences - players don't want to join the Vancouver Canucks.
Canucks president admits players don't want to join Vancouver
In another recent unproductive and eventful interview, Canucks president Jim Rutherford admitted that they're having trouble attracting players. It's got to be a massive indictment on the organization that they can't get players to live in Vancouver.
This has been an issue for the Oilers in the past, as players are less likely to head far north into the cold of Edmonton. However,
Stan Bowman has said it's not the case anymore, and players are itching to join the winning environment in Edmonton.
On the other hand, Vancouver has developed the opposite of a winning environment.
With the best public feud between Pettersson and Miller, the loss of Tocchet, and potentially losing Hughes - they're coming apart at the seams, and no one wants to jump on a sinking ship.
The Canucks peaked with their playoff appearance last year, surprisingly taking the Oilers to 7 games. With the amount of roster turnover expected, it'll be hard to make the playoffs again consistently for a while.
The front office and locker room leaders should be commended for turning around the perception of their organization so much, especially when other Canadian clubs still struggle with the issue.
The Oilers have created something special in Edmonton, and now it just needs to pay off with the first Stanley Cup in the McDavid era.
