Over the past several weeks, Bowman along with his management team has been scouring across the league in search of help across the entire roster. It's clear that he is looking for an upgrade on his defence and secondary scoring as the team continues to struggle to find consistency in both areas.
Several days ago, Oilers scouts were seen at the Columbus Blue Jackets game as defenseman Ivan Provorov and David Jiricek were on the priority list as possible trade candidates.
Bowman has made one change recently as he plucked forward Kasperi Kapanen off the waiver wire from the St Louis Blues as he feels that cabinet would give the team more depth along the wing and more speed as he is known as a speedy player.
Many in the fan base and the Oilers management team felt that the changes that were made over the course of the summer were positive and would help move the team forward.
Unfortunately, several of the players that were signed have not panned out as Viktor Arvidsson and Jeff Skinner have been dismal at times and have not provided the offense the Oilers have hoped.
Many expect Bowman to be busy over the next several months as the Oilers are expected to make the playoffs and challenge for another Stanley Cup Run.
It remains to be seen on who he will be interested in and what kind of trades he can craft as the Oilers do have draft capital to offer and some players in the minors who could help them win a trade.
In the meantime, the Oilers have one more game on Saturday against the New York Rangers before they have a long way off until next Saturday which will give the team a better chance to assess where they stand and who could be moved.
