The Vancouver Canucks have had a far fall from reaching Game 7 of the second round this year, to missing the playoffs this year - and now also losing forward Brock Boeser.

The Canucks have already been officially eliminated from playoff contention, a clear step back from last year, and are now looking to shake things up.

Vancouver Canucks star Brock Boeser bluntly admits he will leave team in free agency

In a new interview with Sportsnet, the Canucks forward bluntly admitted that him re-signing is looking like a non-option at this stage.
Honestly, it's unlikely at this point. It sucks, it's unfortunate. I'm just trying to play good hockey, and then I'll worry about everything after that. We all know it's been a roller coaster of a year. There's been a lot of different things.

- Brock Boeser

Boeser noted specifically the roller coaster of a season and numerous factors that will affect his decision to leave in free agency, and they're not hard to find.
The Canucks entire season was derailed as the team struggles were worsened by off-ice drama with a rift between JT Miller and Elias Pettersson. Such personal issues being aired publicly wasn't conducive to success for anyone this year.
Since they were eliminated by the Oilers in the playoffs, not much has gone well for Vancouver.
In addition, the Canucks organization themselves have seen bent on letting Boeser walk in free agency, and even downplaying his value entirely. At the trade deadline, the Canucks GM said offers were Boeser were shamefully bad.
If I told you what I was offered for Brock Boeser, I think I would have to run out of here because you would not believe me.

- Patrik Allvin, Canucks GM

The 28 year old right shot winger will be one of the higher commodities on the free agent market this offseason. Bosses has had a down season this year with 25 goals and 49 points, but that's still decent production.
Over his 550 game career, Boeser has been a reliable goal scorer. He reached a career high of 40 goals last season, and has an impressive total of 433 career points.
Boeser will be a big asset for any team in free agency as a boost to their offence, and a significant piece of lost scoring for the Canucks. They'll have to put some more pieces together to salvage a chance at contending for a Stanley Cup with their current core.
