Oilers call up defenceman after Walman injury, get major update on Stuart Skinner injury
The Edmonton Oilers have announced that the team has recalled defenceman Cam Dineen from the AHL, and sent down goalie Olivier Rodrigue.
Edmonton Oilers recall another defenceman, send down rookie goalie
With these roster moves, it's clear to see that Dineen could draw into the lineup to replace Walman, and
Stuart Skinner is nearing a return from his injury.
There was no direct play that saw an injury to new defender
Jake Walman, but Oilers coach Knoblauch has confirmed that he is dealing with a minor injury and could return Friday at the earliest.
In addition, the move to send down Rodrigue has to mean that Stuart Skinner's return from injury is imminent. Skinner may not play the Oilers next game tomorrow night, but backing up is more likely.
Skinner suffered a terrifying looking injury when he took a hard knee to the head and collapsed to the ice. Head injuries can be volatile, and a few weeks away from the playoffs, creates tons of uncertainty. It's great that Skinner is making a return now.
Over the next four games, the Oilers should be aiming to get every single player back into the lineup before the playoffs begin to get up to speed. As long as the Oilers are fully healthy and the goalies can hold up, they have a great chance at the Stanley Cup.
