Darnell Nurse

He was the Oilers 7th overall selection in the 2013 NHL draft. He stands 6'-4", 221 pounds and has an eight-year $74 million contract. He is receiving $12 million during this current season.

Nurse has six goals, 14 assists in 39 games for 2022-23, averaging 0.51 points-per-game. He is a workhorse, averaging 23:56 minutes of ice time per game. Due to this, the Oilers management really needs to find him a defenceman who can take some of those minutes.


Jakob Chychrun of the Coyotes has been rumoured to be added to the Oilers' roster. Will GM Ken Holland pull the trigger and make a deal?

Jesse Puljujarvi

The Alvkarleby, Sweden native was the fourth overall pick in the 2016 NHL draft for Edmonton. He stands 6'-4", 201 pounds and his $3 million salary cap hit expires after this current season.

Puljujarvi has really struggled this year with just three goals, six assists in 39 games. He averages 13:11 minutes of ice time and has been the subject of numerous trade rumours. His career totals include 49 goals, 58 assists in 298 games. He has been given every opportunity to produce even playing on a line with Connor McDavid.

Expect to see him traded before the March 3rd trade deadline.

Warren Foegele

The 26-year-old Foegele is a native of Markham, Ontario and was the 67th pick of the Carolina Hurricane in 2014. In July 2021, he was traded by the Hurricanes to the Oilers for Ethan Bear.

He is a third-line player and has four goals, three assists in 28 games. He carries a $2.75 million contract through next season. He averages 12:23 minutes of ice time. Not a big scorer but still a plays a key role on the team.
