Vancouver mayor slap shots Oilers mascot after bet with Edmonton mayor
In a time honored hockey tradition with an all Canadian NHL matchup , the Mayor of Vancouver Ken Sim sent a bet to Edmonton's mayor Amarjeet Sohi to wear a Canucks jersey and have the Canucks flag waiving at Edmonton City Hall if the Canucks win the series with the Oilers. However, Sim took his challenge a step further as he slapshots the Oilers stuffed mascot out of the window into the mouth of the Canucks Killer whale mouth.
It was quite bold and aggressive by Sim which led to an immediate reaction by Edmonton Mayor Sohi which was far less than Sim's.
Some felt it could have been similar or a different style, but Sohi focused on the fans and the city as the way to show the support for the home team. He also had the song La Bamba playing in the background as Edmonton Opera made a rather cringeworthy song to support the team .
In all, it's great to see these friendly rivalries and what the outcome will be for the series. The Oilers will be in Vancouver for Game 1 and it will be on at 10:00PM eastern this evening
