Two more Oilers forwards suffer significant injury scares against Anaheim Ducks
The Edmonton Oilers are already dealing with a catastrophic injury situation, and may nearly have lost two more significant forwards from their lineup before the playoffs.
Two Oilers forwards suffer brutal injury scares against the Anaheim Ducks
Corey Perry suffered the most public injury scare when he took a brutal chicken wing elbow from
Radko Gudas. There were other times through the night where Gudas targeted Perry, too.
Perry went down the tunnel into the locker room for a while, but thankfully was able to come back and finish the game with 17:13 of ice time.
Vasily Podkolzin was also targeted by a cheap play from Gudas in front of the Ducks net, where Gudas held up the Oilers forward in such an awkward way that left him falling to the ice with his leg bent backwards - and then very slow to get up afterwards.
Podkolzin also left and was able to come back, but played lower than his usual ice time with 14:05.
It's great that both Oilers were able to come back to the game, but along with these injury scares and their current long list of injuries already - it's not a positive sight to see more scares like this in the final stretch of the season.
Clearly the players can still play through the pain of their issues, and that may even be the case for Draisaitl or McDavid if it were the playoffs now, but the fact is that many Oilers are either pushing through injury or still healing up.
Many Oilers fans are worried that the amount of injuries may be just too much to overcome by the playoffs.
The priority now has to be resting their players fully and getting ready for Game 1 of the playoffs. The final 5 games shouldn't mean anything else but preparation, and injury prevention.
