Cody Ceci will be lining up against his former team in the Western Conference Final, and before Game 1 opened up on his great experience playing for the Oilers.
Cody Ceci opens up about facing former team in new interview before Game 1
Speaking on the What Chaos Podcast, Cody Ceci spoke glowingly about his time in Edmonton and his former Oiler teammates. He made friendships and playoff memories for a lifetime in Edmonton.
I mean, we're all still close friends off the ice, we still talk quite a bit. I was only there for three years, but it felt longer. We went on some deep runs, and those runs bring you closer to your teammates, your fans, and your city. Felt like longer than three years, and was a lot of fun when I was there - I really appreciated my time there.
Oilers fans may not remember him so positively, as Ceci struggled hard on a pair with Darnell Nurse for much of his final year. At the end of the day though, he always brought his best effort and was a presence in the locker room. And of course, he's earned the nickname of Mr. Game 7.
Hopefully for this series, the Oilers will be able to find a way to exploit some weaknesses of their former teammate Ceci - but he seems like a genuinely good guy who earned another shot at a playoff push.
