Oilers linked to acquiring elite young goaltender in trade involving Stuart Skinner
The Edmonton Oilers are now running with Calvin Pickard as their playoff starting goalie, and will surely be pursuing a more permanent option in goal for next season.
Stuart Skinner last played when he was pulled in Game 2, after he began playing up to the Kings' crowd jeering him.
Oilers analyst links team to acquiring Jeremy Swayman from Boston Bruins
Stuart Skinner could be used as trade assets in order to acquire an upgrade in goal (Jeremy Swayman of the Boston Bruins, if available)
- Allan Mitchell
If the Oilers were to make a deal for Swayman involving Stuart Skinner, it would surely involve much more assets on Edmonton's side.
I do think there are going to be teams that call the Bruins about Swayman, and his no-move doesn't kick in for another year.
- Elliotte Friedman
Despite just being signed to an 8 year deal at the beginning of this season, the Bruins could aggressively retool after finishing last in the Atlantic division.
Swayman didn't have a great season with the Bruins, but has put up incredible numbers earlier on and is only 26 years old. Assuming he gets back to form, having him under contract at $8.25M for 7 years with a rising cap would be a great deal for the Oilers.
Judging by the fact their originally planned 3rd goaltender is now their playoff starter, the Oilers will certainly be looking to upgrade their goaltending next year. Swayman would be an exciting option.
