Oilers GM Stan Bowman spoke to reporters about the noise surrounding goalie Stuart Skinner after Saturday's win over the Canucks.

Skinner had a weak performance in Game 1 with one awful goal that sealed a 3-0 collapse by the Oilers.
Afterwards, Oilers insiders reported that Skinner will be traded away if he doesn't show more consistency - a bombshell report that indicates the Oilers will take a much more aggressive approach in goal.

Edmonton Oilers GM addresses goaltending issues after Game 2 of season

Speaking on After Hours, GM Bowman fiercely defended Skinner from the critics, stressing that every goalie allows weak goals and to give Skinner more time to improve.
That's the times that we're in and there's a lot of attention, on Stuart in particular. You know that first game that we played, Stu made a bad play on that tying goal to start the 3rd period.

The first two goals, no goalie stops those, they're kind of fluke plays. So they never even shot the puck past our goalie that night.

You know we've played two good games so far, and if we keep playing like that, then we're going to be okay.

- Stan Bowman

It's understandable to hear Bowman defend his goaltender, but that one goal against is truly indefensible.
It can happen once in a blue moon, but it happens far too often with Skinner - and if the consistency can't improve then a trade for a new starter is needed.
For now Bowman will continue to pour cold water on any issues with their goaltending, but it's clear that a move will be coming if there's no measurable difference in Skinner's play this season.
