The Edmonton Oilers are on the ice for morning skate before tonight's game vs. the Vancouver Canucks, and have confirmed their expected lineup.

After Stuart Skinner struggled in Game 1 of the season, there were some signs the Oilers would send a message and turn to Pickard as the starter tonight - and now it's been confirmed.

Edmonton Oilers reveal lineups, name Calvin Pickard starting goalie vs. Vancouver Canucks

According to Oilers reporters at practice, the team will run out the exact same lineup as Game 1, with the exception of Pickard starting instead of Skinner.
Skinner has entered this season on the hot seat after his below average results throughout last year, and disappointing moments in the playoffs. The Oilers are in a win-now window, and can no longer wait around for Skinner to find his game.
After posting an .864 save percentage in Game 1 and allowing an awful tying goal against, the Oilers are clearly sending a message by turning to Pickard tonight.
Pickard came to the Oilers as a veteran journeyman 3rd goaltender, but has surpassed expectation when given the chance in Edmonton. He deserves more of a chance when the other option is Skinner.
But not only that, insiders have now put out the warning that Stuart Skinner is officially on the clock. If the Oilers don't see significant improvement this season, he will likely be traded away, and the Oilers will have a new tandem in the playoffs.
After losing the starter's net in just Game 2, Skinner isn't off to a good start from the challenge given to him by management.
