Leon Draisaitl has been the MVP of the Oilers this season, and he's taking it to the next level by drawing up plays for the team at practice - looking just like a coach.
Leon Draisaitl drawing up plays for Oilers at practice
Oilers insiders at practice today noticed that Draisaitl was keeping up the recent trend of drawing up plays by himself. Once again, Draisaitl pulled aside Bouchard and others to plan set plays at practice.
Based on Bouchard's comments after last game, Draisaitl is really employing his tactical mind here. Bouchard revealed that Draisaitl saw a hole in the Kings defence and relayed that information that lead to a game winning goal.
Leo actually called that play. It was a good eye from him, we were pre-scouting it and it all around worked out.
Yeah, watching film from the first two games. You always want to throw something different at them.

If Draisaitl is pulling aside more players, it's an encouraging sign he's seeing more weaknesses. It's also incredible leadership and hockey intelligence from the Oilers superstar, showing just how much of a unique talent he is.
With multiple displays like this and clearly the hockey sense of the greats, it wouldn't be surprising to see Leon Draisaitl go into coaching after his playing career. Who knows? Maybe Draisaitl remains in the Oilers organization for decades to come.
