Edmonton Oilers critical injuries will affect critical games for playoffs this week
On the Oilers upcoming road trip, two of the teams they'll be facing in
the Vegas Golden Knights and
Los Angeles Kings are huge opponents while still jockeying for position within the division. Two more games against rebuilders in San Jose and Anaheim will be important too, just to rack up points.
The Oilers are now guaranteed to face the Los Angeles Kings in the playoffs, but they'll be battling it out for home ice advantage in the final 9 games. Currently, LA is two points ahead of Edmonton.
Facing the Kings for the 4th time in a row shouldn't be comforting news for the Oilers. They have beat them all three times in the past, but the Kings are very much improved this season and greatly motivated to beat Edmonton.
Securing home ice advantage really is something that tilts the ice in the Oilers favour in the playoffs. To begin the series, and potentially play a game 7 backed by Oil Country, would be great for the team.
The upcoming game against LA will be a critical matchup, but they'll entire road trip without some of their top players will be a significant challenge for the Oilers. Every player needs to step up to win out the season. Thankfully,
Leon Draisaitl is back.
