Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid's wife Lauren stated that her new bar is close to being completed an open in downtown Edmonton's Canada Permanent Building.
This project will house a new bar along with an office space Anna furniture showroom that was announced late last year.
Kyle -McDavid hopes to open her bar in mid May
«I think there's been a lot of progress made,» Kyle McDavid said. «We're excited to continue with that progress.» Lauren Kyle Macdavid
She chose the 115-year-old landmark as the goal was trying to preserve the historical portions of the building while adding a more modern flair.
«There are hoops to go around with the historic committee, signage, putting in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning). All of those are interesting hoops to run through, but really, the biggest thing for us is just keeping the historic feel while making it feel fresh and new.» Lauren Kyle McDavid
News of new bar could be signs of McDavid remaining in Edmonton
Speculation has been running rampant through the Oilers over the past year on weather Connor McDavid would sign a long-term contract with the team as he will be entering his final year of his deal this summer.
This will allow the Oilers organization to sign him to a new contract as they have been able to negotiate with him over the past year. All negotiation talks have been silent and there has been no indications on whether he will remain or not.
With his wife's new project coming to an end and set to open in May, there may be a possibility that he will remain with the Oilers for the remainder of his career much like Leon Draisaitl has done with his eight-year extension last year.
The Oilers are currently on a three-game road trip where they will face off against their archrival and soon to be first round match up the Los Angeles Kings as the game will take place on April 5TH at 4:00 PM eastern.
