Oilers forward Connor Brown is once again elevating his game in the playoffs, and letting the NHL know that Edmonton has their sights set on the Stanley Cup.

Brown joined the Oilers last year, and went on a scoring drought of 72 games. It looked to be a failed signing, but he continued to work, and now has fully arrived as a clutch playoff gamer.

Connor Brown sends strong message that Oilers are a team focused on the clutch

In a new interview with Daniel Nugent-Bowman of the Athletic, Connor Brown opened up on some of his motivations behind elevating his game in the playoffs. Brown says he's been molded for it, but also is inspired by the talent of his teammates.
I grew up on championship teams my whole life. This is what hockey's always been about.

Brown put away a clutch goal against Vegas to seal the win in Game 1. He exploded with speed up the ice when he saw the opportunity, and had the skill to finish a beautiful goal.
My eyes lit up when I got that puck. I had my swords out, and I was on the attack mode and looking to sting them.»

Since being in Edmonton, it's such a talented group that I've been pushed down a little bit as far as offence. But I'm an offensive guy. I have a good brain to make plays in the offensive zone, so I just keep my eyes open and look for my opportunities.

There's something special about a hard working third liner who can consistently elevate his game in the most important moments.
Brown's success comes from the incredible amount of work he puts in, but he's also got some skill to show too.
Mostly playing on the third line, Brown has now scored 4 goals and 6 points in 7 playoff games this year. He's already matched his playoff scoring from last year, and he looks like he's even better this season.
As a pending free agent this season, Brown's quality playoffs will net the 31 year old forward some market interest. Hopefully the Oilers can keep him, and he continues this kind of clutch playoff games.
