Oilers AHL team cancels game after disaster in the arena
Moments ago, the Oilers AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors, put out a statement confirming the cancellation of their road game tonight against the San Diego Gulls due to an issue within Penchanga Arena.
According to reports, a water main break has flooded parts of the arena, and the problem will be impossible to remedy today.
The cancellation of this game is significant for the Condors in more than a few ways. Missing today's game will set the team back further in the schedule, and they already have several games in hand on all other division teams.
Additionally, the Condors have been having great success, and are adding another player to the roster in Dylan Holloway. He was expected to make his return to the lineup today playing Center instead of the wing, but now his return will have to wait another day. More so, when the Condors have to make up a significant amount of games later in the season, it may cause problems with calling up goaltending prospect Olivier Rodrigue.
Hopefully the San Diego Gulls can sort their arena situation quickly, and the Condors can get back to making up their games in hand on the schedule, preferably sooner rather than later.
