New information surfaced today that former Flyers goaltender Carter Hart will be eventually eligible to return to the NHL.
Carter Hart has been linked to the Edmonton Oilers numerous times by several NHL analysts and insiders. The Oilers sorely need a goalie upgrade, and Hart is an Edmonton native.
TSN legal analyst claims Carter Hart will in fact make return to the NHL
With the new information from today, TSN Legal Analyst Eric Macmillan reported with certainty that Carter Hart will return to the NHL.
On July 1st, NHL analyst Kevin Weekes revealed that multiple teams were keeping tabs on Carter Hart through the trial, and suggested that the Edmonton Oilers would be among interested teams. Many other analysts have linked the Oilers and Hart too.
Despite the controversy around Hart, analysts point to the Oilers dire need in net and Hart's history as an elite NHL goalie. Being from Edmonton, Alberta adds another degree of connection between Hart and the Oilers.
However, Oilers insider Jason Gregor has also reported that under no circumstances is Edmonton interested in signing Carter Hart.
Now 26 years old, Hart last played for the Flyers in the 2023-24 season before taking a personal leave of absence. He's posted a career .906 save percentage in 227 games, represented Team Canada, and was considered an elite up and coming goalie before leaving the NHL.
It's unknown if any NHL team will take the risk of backlash and sign any of these players, but the path is legally cleared for a return to professional hockey.
