Edmonton Oilers trade rumour lands star Pittsburgh Penguins forward
The Pittsburgh Penguins are one of the few NHL teams already decided on selling assets this offseason, leading to some speculation on the future of Bryan Rust.
NHL insiders have linked the Edmonton Oilers recently to trying to pull off a final trade this offseason for a top 6 forward. David Pagnotta on the Hello Hockey Show was one to report.
«They're still looking for a top six guy. So we'll see kind of where this all comes together. But, you know, clearly they didn't feel like Joshua was going to be somebody that was going to slot into their top six consistently.

Oilers insider raises Bryan Rust as trade option for Edmonton
In response to these reports, Oilers insider Jim Matheson raised Bryan Rust from the Penguins as the most likely option for Edmonton.
The 33 year old right winger does fit a need for the Oilers - their left side is stacked, but their right wings are more bare. Rudy is a veteran who's proven he can play alongside elite talent like Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, which would give a blueprint for success in the Oilers top 6.
Rust plays a hard two-way game, but has also been able to be a reliable scorer for his whole career in Pittsburgh. On a barren Pens team last year, Rust scored 31 goals and 65 points in 71 games.
Fitting in the salary and actually putting together a trade offer to entice the Penguins are two more significant challenges for the Oilers, and may make this trade impossible. However, it makes sense they'd be looking for ab established top 6 right winger - especially closer to the trade deadline.
