The Edmonton Oilers have a logjam of depth players at the bottom of their lineup, which may lead to a roster move involving veteran Mattias Janmark.
Oilers insider hints at creative move with salary cap involving Mattias Janmark
Speaking in a new segment on OilersNow, Bob Stauffer mentioned Janmark's name and immediately mentioned the team will need to get creative with the salary cap.
Janmark was a big penalty killer - The Oilers might have to get creative here with the cap.

In reality, Janmark is only really overpaid by a few hundred thousand dollars on his $1.4M salary, but that's enough to make a difference for the Oilers.
If Edmonton were to send Janmark through waivers and to the AHL, the team would bury some of his salary allowing for cap accumulation through the year - giving them more space for a trade deadline move. With only 2 goals last season, there doesn't seem to be much trade interest in Janmark.
The Oilers signed a few new younger and cheaper free agents who should be able to take his roster spot, and feature role on the penalty kill.
As long as one player is able to capably hustle on the penalty kill and score more than 2 goals, they'd be an upgrade on Janmark. It looks like last year was his last full year with the Oilers.
