Connor McDavid spotted at another practice, but Darnell Nurse gets embarrassed

McDavid and Draisaitl made waves in the hockey world last week when they returned to McDavid's home town for a rec league game. Fans quickly gathered to watch the two NHL superstars barely try, and it was a great event.

Back again in his hometown, McDavid headed to the rink again late last night with Darnell Nurse. Unlike the rec league game, this time the Oilers were really trying.

McDavid and Nurse were seen going through some skills drills in Newmarket. McDavid went first, and absolutely dangled through the obstacles at a near-perfect level. Then Nurse went, and fumbled on the first play.

It's obviously a bit embarrassing to mess up in the first drill of any practice, but doing so right after McDavid would make anyone look bad. Nurse definitely got the short end of the stick here.

However, it's cool to see the Oilers captain still keeping in touch with the core group over the summer and still getting on the ice with them. Maybe McDavid was even trying to earnestly help Nurse with some pointers for next season.

Earlier this offseason, reports surfaced that the Oilers did ask Nurse to waive his no-move clause. The pressure will be on him to perform better this season.

Perhaps he's taking some extra time this offseason to raise his game, and try to come through for the Oilers - instead of being shipped out when his trade clause retracts.
