The Edmonton Oilers now have 4 players out with injury now that Alec Regula was hurt after a hit from Evander Kane.
Aside from Regula, the Oilers are also missing
Zach Hyman,
Jake Walman, and Mattias Janmark. Their return to the roster will have a major impact on the team, and Coach Knoblauch has provided a new update on their timelines.
Oilers confirm injury to Regula after massive hit by Evander Kane
Beginning with the newest injury, Alec Regula was pulled from the Oilers last game due to the NHL's concussion protocol after taking a massive hit from Evander Kane.
Kane caught Regula hard twice in the game, but the second hit may have been the one to cause the injury.
It's tough seeing Regula exit the lineup after he was tagged as an emerging talent on the Oilers roster this season, but they have quality reinforcements with
Troy Stecher taking his place.
Oilers update injury status of 4 players before facing New York Rangers
Speaking to the media after today's practice, Coach Knoblauch provided some clarity on all 4 injuries. Regula was indeed hurt by Kane's hit, and will miss some games in their current road trip.
Mattias Janmark could return as soon as this weekend, Jake Walman is on track to return later this week, and Zach Hyman will still be out until at least November 1st.
When the Oilers add all 3 players to their roster again, some interesting decisions will need to be made. The Oilers have a surplus of both forwards and defenceman, and some will have to be cut when the team is fully healthy.
That's a great problem to have though with a team as deep as the Edmonton Oilers.
