The Edmonton Oilers have hit the ice for practice in New York before playing the Rangers, and are expected to make major lineup changes.
The Oilers had a completely dominant effort of the Vancouver Canucks last time out, but the coach still had a few areas he could make tweaks. Now with Roslovic entering the lineup too, there's opportunity for change.
Edmonton Oilers announce new lineup changes before facing New York Rangers
According to insiders at Oilers practice, the team is currently projecting to line up as follows:
This should be a popular change, as Frederic has struggled in the opening few games while Mangiapane has been electric with his speed and shooting threat. This new-look top line will play at a staggering pace.
Jack Roslovic will enter the second line a losing side Nugent-Hopkins and Savoie. It's a good starting point for the offensive winger, and will provide plenty of chance for his secondary scoring to come through.
However, with Roslovic entering the lineup, Coach Knoblauch has elected to scratch forward
Noah Philp. The young centreman made the team after an impressive preseason and has looked good early this year, even scoring his first NHL goal last game. It's hard to say he deserves to come out of the lineup.
On defence,
Troy Stecher will enter the lineup in the right side second pairing with
Alec Regula absent from practice. Hopefully, the Oilers will provide an update on his status soon.
In goal,
Stuart Skinner will get back in net with a crucial chance to bounce back after a disappointing Game 1.
Tonight against the New York Rangers the Oilers will look to continue their dominant effort of the Canucks with all 4 lines engaged. If that continues, they'll be set up well for another pm long playoff run.
