Stuart Skinner was ready to move on from his time with the Edmonton Oilers, says Oilers insider Tom Gazzola.
After the last two playoffs and another inconsistent start to this season, Skinner was taking serious heat from fans and analysts around the Oilers. It turns out both the team and the goalie were ready for a fresh start.
Stuart Skinner welcomed trade off Edmonton Oilers, says one insider
On a new edition of Edmonton Sports Talk, insider Tom Gazzola reported that both Skinner and Jarry were looking from fresh starts of their respective teams.
I've had people close to Jarry tell me that he wanted out of Pittsburgh, and Stu wanted out of Edmonton. Both guys wouldn't have minded a change of scenery.
The Oilers have no choice but to ask themselves if it's time to trade Stuart Skinner - for their benefit and his.

It really just was no longer a tenable relationship between the Oilers and Stuart Skinner. Fans and management clearly did not have the confidence in him for another playoff run, and that wore on him mentally. Neither the fans nor Skinner are at fault for their reactions.
Paired with the fact that he's a UFA at the end of this season, it was time for the Oilers to move on from Skinner anyway instead of paying him a major raise. Tearing off the band aid and doing it before the playoffs was the best move for all parties.
