Oilers insider makes insane statement on Stuart Skinner in playoffs

The Edmonton Oilers are desperate to find a real starting goaltender for next year's playoff run, but some Oilers media still truly believe Stuart Skinner is a top tier goalie.
According to recent reports from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Oilers will be pursuing a change with their goalie coach and backup position this offseason - but are relying on Skinner to run it back as the starter.

According to Oilers insider Jason Gregor, Stuart Skinner was stealing the Oilers games up until the Stanley Cup Final. Additionally, the Oilers may not see any upgrades available on backup Cal Pickard.
Stuart Skinner, two years in a row, was infinitely better than Jake Oettinger. It's frustrating because [Stuart Skinner] isn't as good as Bobrovsky, but [the Oilers] aren't built to have their goalie steal them games, and he did up until the final.

Simply put, Gregor must not have seen Skinner lose the starter's crease for two playoff runs in a row.
Last season Skinner stumbled in their tough series against Vancouver, and Pickard carried the weight until he found his game again. Skinner lost his job much earlier this playoffs after two games against LA - and was again pulled in the Cup Final for Pickard.
With a minimum of 10 games played in a single playoffs, Stuart Skinner has routinely ranked at the very bottom of save percentage in modern NHL history. Skinner's playoff run in 2023 was the second worst statistically since the lockout.
Oilers fans are completely taken aback by Gregor's suggestion that Skinner is stealing them wins in the playoffs. This is a deep team, playing elite two-way hockey, with a massive weakness in net. With some of the worst goalies in the NHL, they earn their wins more than anyone.

The Oilers weakness seems clear to everyone but the media in Edmonton. It's not acceptable to start your backup goalie in the Stanley Cup Final, and then declare your goaltending fine. They need an upgrade, so desperately.
