The Edmonton Oilers have made an exciting addition with the signing of forward prospect Quinn Hutson, who will join the team immediately but is ineligible for playoffs.
Quinn Hutson will join Oilers for final games of regular season, but not playoffs
According to the most recent update from insider Frank Seravalli, Hutson is ineligible to appear in the Oilers playoff lineup per NHL rules.
When Hutson officially signs his contract, he's expected to immediately join the Oilers and burn a year off his entry level contract.
It's unlikely they'll finalize a deal and get him in for tonight's game, but Hutson could play the final two games of the season against the LA Kings and San Jose Sharks.
Oilers prospect analysts are extremely bullish on the 23 year old forward, and brother of Canadiens defenceman
Lane Hutson. Bruce Curlock believes Hutson is an NHL level talent already, and will be a full time roster player next year.
Hutson has high end puck skills that stand out with incredible passing and shooting, but also reportedly has an elite hockey sense similar to his brother, which could make him a great complimentary piece to the Oilers' stars.
The Oilers have now signed a number of impressive free agents expected to crack the big league roster next season. It's part of a trend to get the team younger, and hopefully better for next year's playoff run.
