According to reports surfacing from NHL insiders, the Edmonton Oilers are expected to be finishing a contract with Quinn Hutson, the older brother of Lane Hutson on the Montreal Canadiens.
Hutson is reportedly immediately joining the Oilers, burning one year off a three year contract and immediately becoming an option for Edmonton in the lineup.
Oilers officially signing college forward Quinn Hutson
Hutson is a 23 year old right shot winger, who's had an impressive season with Boston University. In 37 games this season, Hutson scored 23 goals and 50 points.
The forward is slightly undersized at 5'11 and 176 pounds, but if Quinn has the puck skills and offensive creativity as his brother does, he'll be an incredible talent added to the Oilers.
Although Hutson is immediately burning a year off his contract and will be an option for Edmonton, it's unknown if he'll actually get into games with the Oilers - it may have been a negotiating tactic to get him signed.
Highly praised prospect Quinn Hutson will join Oilers right away
According to Oilers prospect expert Bruce Curlock, this will be a fantastic signing for the Oilers.
Hutson is a little undersized, but his offensive creativity and goal scoring is a major talent - maybe even comparable to
Jordan Eberle.
The Oilers desperately need more youth on their roster, and adding NHL ready players like this is a great move for them to make.
This should be an extremely exciting signing for the Edmonton Oilers. They're adding another NHL ready young forward with star potential, who can immediately play games now. This is a big deal for the Oilers!
