According to insider Irfaan Gaffar, Arvidsson has officially waived his no-move clause for Boston and the trade will be completed.
UPDATE: The Oilers will receive a future 5th round draft pick from the Bruins in exchange for Arvidsson, with no salary retained.
With the Oilers primarily just looking to clear salary cap space in this trade, it's very likely that they won't receive much of anything in return for Arvidsson - the Oilers would be most interested in a draft pick or a 2-way contract.
Oilers trade Viktor Arvidsson to Boston Bruins
Viktor Arvidsson was signed to a 2 year deal for $4M a season with a hope that he could be a consistent offensive producer in the Oilers top six.
Just like a similar signing with Jeff Skinner, Arvidsson just never found a fit on the roster, and ended up as spare parts. Being healthy scratched in the playoffs was a clear tell there was no ice time for him on the team.
Arvidsson scored just 15 goals and 27 points in 67 games this season primarily in second line minutes. It was his lowest-scoring season by game since 2019.
Hopefully the Oilers can fully clear the cap space, make good use of it, and Arvidsson find a good fit on his new team after this trade.
